In the 1920’s, America’s economy was at it’s most prosporous age ever. Because of new inventions and ideas like the affordable automobile and the rush of people into the cities, people were finding jobs more easily and making more money. Another idea that was introduced in this time was the five day workweek. This gave workers Saturday and Sunday off for relaxing and leisure. With so much time on their hands, Americans had the ability to do things that eventually changed the culture mindset of the country. One of the major developments of this leisure time came out of New Orleans and is what we now call the Jazz Age. This was one of the first racially mixed social scenes due to it’s popularity among it’s African American starters and the young generation of wealthy white enthusiasts. Jazz music was just one of many popular culture scenes started in the Roaring Twenties.
